Ebony Johnson, Ph.D., Executive Director
Ebony received her Bachelors Degree from Tuskegee University with a major in Psychology. She has a master’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from The University of Alabama. She has been employed with The Tuscaloosa Children's Center for 10 years. She began as a graduate intern with the Education Coordinator in June 2003. She accepted the position as the Child & Family Advocate in August 2004 and served in that position until September 2011. Equiller Mahone, Child & Family Advocate
Equiller has served in the position as the Child & Family Advocate since September 2012. She received her Bachelors and Masters Degree from the University of Alabama with a major in Human Development and Family Studies. Her job duties include providing education and emotional support to non-offending caregivers, accompanying clients to forensic medical examinations, and conducting caregiver intakes with clients referred to counseling. Sharon Whitfield, Forensic Interviewer
Sharon is a Licensed Certified Social Worker who received her Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Psychology. She later received her Masters degree from The University of Alabama in Social Work. Before coming to TCC she held many jobs in the field, including a position as child abuse and neglect supervisor in the state department of human resources. Janie Plaxco, Counselor
Janie is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received her Bachelors Degree from the University of Alabama with a major in Human development. She later received her Masters in Counseling from Alabama. After working at Indian Rivers Mental Health Center in Tuscaloosa for 9 years, she has been in private practice for over 18 years. Terry Osberry, Counselor
Terry is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received her Bachelor's degree in Family and Child Development, She has a Masters degree in Education with a specialty in counseling. Her 30 years of experience includes working in the mental health field for nine years in Sweden, and in Child Protective Services and Mental Health in Florida and Alabama. She has been employed by The Tuscaloosa Children’s Center since 2001. She provides individual and group therapy to victims of child abuse and their families. Richard Brown, Bookkeeper
Richard is a retired employee from The University of Alabama. He spent 29 years with the University in both financial and academic affairs. During his career, he was also employed by the accounting firm Ernst and Ernst in Atlanta, GA and self employed in Tuscaloosa for four years. Richard is now in his tenth year with the Tuscaloosa Children's Center. He graduated from The University of Alabama with a bachelors degree in accounting.
